To strengthen its information and promotion campaign on standards and standardization among high school and college students, the DTI-BPS, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), conducts the Standards Blitz Program, where the DTI-BPS visits schools to conduct awareness seminars and workshops on standards and its role in upholding the consumer’s right to safety. The program also facilitates visits to the DTI-BPS Testing Center and other DTI-accredited testing laboratories for students to witness how certain products are tested based on their relative Philippine National Standards (PNS). Moreover, the program holds school activities such as Essay-writing and Poster-making Contests on standards, creating Standards Advocacy Clubs among schools and introducing Standards in the Curricula for Elementary, Secondary and Alternative Learning System Education (SCUE).
Also part of the Standards Blitz program is the development of education materials on standards such as teacher-support materials (TSMs) for formal and non-formal education. High schools use these TSMs in their Science, Chemistry, Araling Panlipunan, and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) subjects. Also available are modules on standards for out-of-school youth or mobile learners in the secondary level of the DepEd alternative system.
