The Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) adopts the international standards on cleanrooms and associated controlled environments ISO 14644-4:2001 and ISO 14644-7:2004 as Philippine National Standard (PNS), PNS ISO 14644-4:2019 and 14644-7:2004.
Published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), PNS ISO 14644-4:2019 specifies the requirements for the design and construction of cleanrooms installations. It is intended for use by purchasers, suppliers and designers of cleanroom installations and provides a checklist of important parameters of performance. PNS ISO 14644-7 specifies the minimum requirements for the design, construction, installation, test and approval of separative devices. It was approved for adoption upon the recommendation of the DTI-BPS Technical Committee on Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments (BPS/TC 83).
BPS/TC 83 is composed of representatives from the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute – Advanced Device and Materials Testing Laboratory, Food and Drug Administration – Center for Device Regulation, Radiation Health, and Research and Inquar Industries Incorporated.
These standards also contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (3) Good Health and Well-Being and will promote common understanding among stakeholders in the cleanroom industry.
As the National Standards Body of the Philippines the DTI-BPS is the official member to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
